Couples Who Pray by SQuire Rushnell and Louise DuArt

Couples who pray together stay together seems a little cliche, but perhaps that is what the authors are trying to say.  There is great power when a couple lays down their defenses and bares all before each other and before God.  Just like our clothes come off when we're intimate physically, intimate prayer also strips us bare and reveals the core heart issues.  Prayer together can transform you personally and as a couple if you allow it to.  The authors challenge each couple to begin a habit of praying together with a 40 Day Prayer Challenge.  What a great idea!

I've always felt a passion for prayer and a deep desire to pray with my husband.  Sometimes it feels like we're on such different spiritual planes that praying together has been hard.  I enjoyed this book and the idea that prayer together can bring a couple closer to each other and God, but unfortunately both partners have to be willing to come together in prayer to make this work.  I enjoyed the testimonies of couples who have seen God work as they pray together.  Several celebrity couples shared how prayer together has made them stronger and it was refreshing to see this perspective from Hollywood instead of the breakup stories we hear so often on the news.

Overall, I thought this was a good book and even though I am praying by myself right now, it encouraged me to trust God that someday I can be a part of a praying couple.
