May 3 thoughts

My kidlets are the neatest people.  I'm just sayin.... LOL

Right now they are watching a History Channel show called "How the states got their shapes".  I'm really proud that they constantly choose to watch educational programming.  TV can be a very good thing when you're home educating.  I'm always amazed at the choices we have :)

I was a slacker yesterday on my 31 Days to Clean challenge.  I was supposed to work on cleaning my fridge, but I had just done that a few weeks ago, so I let that one go.  I was trying to work on loving my family and I think that went pretty well.  I made them a delicious supper....homemade potato soup and bread bowls. :)  I have tried for years to perfect my grandma's tater soup, but never have been able to get that taste just right.  Last night as I sat down to eat and took my first bite, I stopped and savored the flavor.  I said to Greg, "THIS is gma's soup".  Wow...felt so good to be able to say that.  I hope she was proud of me :)

Today I'm going to print out my mission statement for why I want a clean home and post it on the fridge.  Yeah, slacker again, was supposed to do that 2 days ago.  I am gonna make it pretty by printing it from the computer.

Another mission I have today is well....a surprise.  ;)  I'm working on something for my mom for our first Mother's Day.  Yes, I'm a 40 year old woman and having my first Mother's Day with my mom.....my God given mom.  That's all I'm gonna say about that cause she reads this blog.  Oh, I'm a TEASE! hahaha

Today is gonna be a nice day and I plan on getting outside in the yard and just enjoying the warm temps and my garden.

This certainly isn't an after thought, but I realized that it's the anniversary of the May 3, 1999 tornadoes here in Oklahoma.  What a devastating night.  I'll never forget where we were/what we were doing. My 3rd child was only 3 months old and we lived in a mobile home.  We spent the majority of that night in the mobile home park's underground shelter with probably 20 other people including a few dogs (one of ours included). It was such a scary night but we were spared and our home was not touched.  Others were not so lucky.  40 people were killed in Oklahoma that day when an F5 tornado ripped through the Oklahoma City area.  My thoughts are still very vivid of that day 12 years ago.

That's all for today.....I'm enjoying this states program.....really neat!
